JOIN THE CIVIL AIR PATROL!

We are always looking for motivated people to become part of our dedicated team. Becoming a member is a rewarding experience which will certainly be fulfilling. If you are looking to become part of an active organization that really does make a difference, all you need to do is take the first step.

1. Our squadron is at Tupelo Regional Airport, Tupelo Eagle Composite Squadron, SER-MS-099.

Visit the unit locator on CAP’s national website to find a unit near your community. Simply enter your zip code or city and state to find closest squadron.

2. Attend a Meeting. MS099 meets every Tuesday evening at 1800, (6:00 pm) 118 Lemons Drive.

Once you locate a local unit near your community make arrangements to attend a meeting. Most units meet on a weekly basis and would love to have you attend. Simply contact the unit to and let them know you plan to attend.

3. Obtain and complete an application.

• Cadet Member Application Process. The application process for cadet membership is very simple. You must be at least 12 years old. Young people who join between 12 and 14 have the greatest opportunity to shape their future; but you may join as a cadet up through 18.  Applicants must complete the electronic  CAP Form 15 – Application for Cadet Membership.  The membership/application fee of $30.00 can be paid electronically.  After your third visit, the Commander may approve your application.  To make it easier on cadets and parents, our unit collects an additional $65 for uniforms and accessories.  Cadets can expect their membership card within 2-3 weeks.
• Senior Member Application Process. There are three parts to the application process for senior membership. First, complete the CAP Form 12 – Application for Senior Membership. Next, come have your fingerprints done at the unit.  The unit will submit the CAPF 12, Fingerprint Card, and the initial membership fee (2022 Senior Membership is $65.00) to national headquarters. A Temporary membership is approved within 1-2 weeks. When the FBI background check has cleared, a new ID card will be sent to you removing the temporary status.

4. Common Questions.

Q:. I’m not a pilot. Can I still join?
A: Absolutely! CAP offers many avenues of volunteer service. Special skill sets are always needed including legal services, public relations, personnel and administration. Volunteers who serve the squadron through community outreach, media relations and administrative responsibilities are just as important as the crews that fly the airplanes. CAP’s professional development program and emergency services operations afford non-pilots a plethora of training opportunities and duty positions.

Q: By joining CAP, do I become a member of the military?
A: No. While CAP is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force and as such follows its military based customs, courtesies, and organizational structure, members are not military themselves and do not incur any type of military obligation.

Q: Are there membership dues?
A: Yes. A member’s first year is covered by the fee sent in when they apply. Annual national membership renewal is $30.00 for Cadets and $65.00 for Seniors Members.
